Yes – in most cases, GST will apply to transport services provided by Blue Diamond Transfers, even if the passenger is an NDIS participant.

Here’s why:


🟦 We are not an NDIS-registered provider

Blue Diamond Transfers operates as a private transport service. This means we do not fall under the NDIS Commission’s registration requirements, and we are not bound by NDIS pricing limits or rules.

As a result, our services are charged at commercial rates, and normal tax rules apply, including GST where applicable.


🟨 When is GST not charged under NDIS?

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows certain services to be GST-free if they meet strict criteria, even for non-registered providers.

To legally provide a GST-free transport service, all of the following must be true:

  1. ✅ The participant has an active NDIS plan.

  2. ✅ The transport is a reasonable and necessary support specifically listed in that plan.

  3. ✅ There is a written agreement between the participant (or their representative) and the provider that confirms this.

  4. ✅ The service is the kind listed as GST-free in the NDIS Minister’s Determination.


🔺 Why we still charge GST

Most bookings with Blue Diamond Transfers are general transport services – like airport runs, event travel, or medical appointments. While many of our clients are NDIS participants, these trips are usually:

  • Booked casually, not under a formal support agreement

  • Not specified line-by-line in the NDIS plan

  • Used for convenience or quality of service, not tied to a specific funding outcome

Because of this, we are legally required to charge 10% GST if we’re not meeting all four of the GST-free conditions above.


🧾 What this means for you

If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, you can still use our services and claim your trip cost back through your plan — as long as your NDIS budget allows for it and your plan manager approves the expense.

We issue tax invoices that clearly show:

  • The base fare

  • Any extras (waiting time, tolls, etc.)

  • The GST amount

When you make a booking through our app or website, you may notice a $1 charge appear on your card. This is not a fee. It’s a temporary pre-authorisation used to verify your payment method and ensure the card is valid.

This $1 charge is automatically reversed by your bank or card provider shortly after the transaction is processed — usually within a few hours to a couple of business days depending on your bank.

Rest assured, you’re only charged for the actual fare once your trip is confirmed or completed, as per our standard billing process.

    • Luxury Sedan (Euro Spec of Equivalent) – Limited to 3 passengers, 2 large suitcases – 50% Premium

    • 7 Seater Vans – Limited to 7 passengers, 5 large suitcases – 55% Premium

    • 11 Seater Vans – Limited to 11 passengers, 7 large suitcases – 105% Premium

    • 13/14 Seater Vans – Limited to 13-14 passengers, 9 large suitcases – 125% Premium

We provide generous complimentary wait times to ensure passengers have flexibility. After the complimentary period expires, additional wait charges apply.

Airport Transfers

  • Domestic Flights: 30 minutes complimentary wait from actual aircraft landing (touchdown).

  • International Flights: 60 minutes complimentary wait from actual aircraft landing (touchdown).

  • Wait time is calculated from touchdown as recorded by airport systems. This ensures fairness as disembarkation, immigration, baggage collection, and other delays are outside the driver’s control.

Other Pickups (Hotels, Residences, Offices, Events, etc.)

  • 10 minutes complimentary wait from the booked pickup time.

Intermediate Stops

  • No complimentary wait time. All waiting at intermediate stops (e.g., schools, hospitals, errands) is charged in full from the moment the driver arrives until the transfer resumes.

Charges Beyond the Allowance

  • After complimentary wait times expire, additional wait is charged at the respective rate for the vehicle booked or as otherwise agreed under a corporate account or Service Level Agreement.

Discretionary Waivers

  • We act reasonably and in good faith. Where delays are caused by circumstances beyond the passenger’s control (e.g., medical handovers, unexpected airport disruptions), management may reduce or waive wait time charges at its discretion.

No, our prices do not include tolls.

Please note that toll charges will be added seperately to your final bill. This ensures you only pay for the tolls used on your travel.

Please note that any airport pickup/parking fees incurred during your trip will be added to the final bill. Costs may varying from airport location to location.

All payments are processed via Blue Diamond Transfers using Stripe. All payments processed are subject to a card processing fee. The rates are as follows:

  • Australian Credit or Debit Cards: 1.7% + $0.30 per transaction
  • International Credit Cards or Debit Carts: 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction

Our hourly as-directed service provides flexible, on-demand transportation tailored to your schedule, with a minimum hire of 2 hours.

Prices quoted as based on an Executive Sedan. Other vehicles selected will have a premuim associated with them.

  • 2+ Hours: $130 / hour
  • 4+ Hours: $125 / hour
  • 6+ Hours: $120 / hour
  • 8+ Hours: $115 / hour

Minimum hire is 2 hours. If the driver is released early, billling will be based on the original booked time. The booking can be extended at the client request.

Additional surcharges apply for trips during certain late night and early morning hours

  • Late Night Surcharge – 10PM – 1AM – 15%
  • Very Early Morning Surcharge – 1AM – 4AM – 25%
  • Early Morning Surcharge – 4AM – 5AM – 15%

These surcharges will be applied during the booking process but are not reflected in instant quotes.

Out of Area Surcharge Policy

Application of Charges
Blue Diamond Transfers reserves the right to apply an Out of Area Surcharge for transfers that originate from or terminate at locations more than 50 kilometers from major capital city centres.

This surcharge is:
– Applied at Blue Diamond Transfers’ discretion
– Not included in automated quotes generated by the Instant Quote tool
– Not reflected in online booking prices
– Added manually after booking confirmation
– Communicated to customers before the transfer date

Customer Notification
If your transfer qualifies for an Out of Area Surcharge, a Blue Diamond Transfers representative will contact you directly to discuss the applicable fee and obtain your approval before proceeding with the booking.

Rationale for Out of Area Surcharge
The Out of Area Surcharge is necessary to cover additional operational costs incurred for transfers beyond our standard service areas, including:
– Extended driver hours and increased labour costs
– Additional fuel consumption for longer return journeys
– Higher vehicle maintenance requirements due to extended mileage
– Reduced vehicle availability for other bookings
– Complex logistics management for remote locations
– Potential accommodation costs for drivers on long-distance transfers

Transparency Commitment
Blue Diamond Transfers is committed to transparent pricing. While this surcharge may be necessary for operational sustainability, we ensure that:
– Customers are informed promptly if the surcharge applies

3. Driver Incentives and Fair Compensation

To ensure high-quality service, we need to incentivize professional chauffeurs to take on jobs during peak-event periods, which often involve longer working hours, late-night shifts, and challenging traffic conditions. The premium helps maintain driver availability and ensures they are fairly compensated for the additional effort required.

4. Enhanced Service Standards

Events often require a higher level of service, including VIP treatment, multiple pick-up/drop-off locations, and flexibility for unexpected delays. Our special event premium ensures that clients receive the highest standard of professionalism, well-maintained luxury vehicles, and a seamless travel experience.

Yes — if you require a child seat, please let us know at the time of booking so we can ensure one is fitted to your vehicle before pickup. We can supply approved child restraints in most service areas, subject to availability and local laws. Charges may apply, and advance notice is strongly recommended.

State and Territory Laws Regarding Child Seats
Child restraint laws vary across Australia depending on whether you are travelling in a rideshare, taxi, private hire/chauffeur vehicle, or a private vehicle. The following is a general overview — please note that regulations are subject to change and enforcement may differ by jurisdiction.

  • New South Wales (NSW)

    • Private vehicles & chauffeur services: Must comply with the Australian Road Rules — children up to 6 months in a rear-facing restraint, 6 months to 4 years in a rear- or forward-facing restraint, 4 to 7 years in an approved forward-facing restraint or booster seat.

    • Taxis: Exempt from some requirements but must have child restraints if available. Drivers can carry children over 12 months without a restraint if unavailable, but they must be in the rear seat.

    • Rideshare: Must comply with private vehicle rules — child restraints must be used.

  • Victoria (VIC)

    • Same requirements as NSW for all vehicle types except taxis, which are exempt from providing restraints (passengers must supply their own). Rideshare must follow private vehicle rules.

  • Queensland (QLD)

    • Same general age and size requirements as NSW. Taxis and booked hire vehicles (including chauffeur services) are exempt from carrying child seats unless provided by the passenger. If no seat is available, children 1–7 years must travel in the rear.

  • South Australia (SA)

    • Same restraint requirements as NSW for private and booked hire vehicles. Taxis are exempt from providing restraints but must accommodate passenger-supplied ones.

  • Western Australia (WA)

    • All vehicles (including taxis and rideshare) must comply with child restraint laws. Exceptions apply for some taxi trips, but children under 12 months must be in a suitable restraint.

  • Tasmania (TAS)

    • Same requirements as NSW for all vehicle types. Taxis are not required to carry restraints but must allow passengers to fit their own.

  • Northern Territory (NT)

    • Private vehicle rules apply to chauffeur and rideshare. Taxis are exempt from carrying child restraints unless the passenger provides one.

  • Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

    • Same as NSW for private and chauffeur vehicles. Taxis and rideshare must comply unless no restraint is available, in which case children must sit in the rear.

  • We always recommend pre-booking a child seat to ensure compliance with the law and your child’s safety.

  •  You cannot make a booking without a valid registered credit card.
  •  Blue Diamond Transfers does not have access to your credit card details at any time – you are registering your credit card directly with Stripe via a secure encrypted link.
  •  To update your credit card details you must first remove that card and then add a new card with the new details.
  •  Blue Diamond Transfers will perform fraud checks (including a small pre-authorisation) upon registering your card to check validity.
  •  Blue Diamond Transfers reserves the right to collect payment prior to a trip for new clients, special and one-off bookings.
  •  Blue Diamond Transfers is not able to reverse payments made to an incorrect card. Please double-check before booking.
